Two operas from Theatre Vanemuine on tour in the Helsinki National Opera

This November, two unique, exciting and colourful operas from Theatre Vanemuine can be seen in the Helsinki National Opera.

According to Ave Svarts from the theatre’s marketing department, Theatre Vanemuine has a long-term and warm relationship with the Finnish National Opera. During the last tour in 2007 ballet “Peer Gynt” and opera “Tosca” were staged in Helsinki. A few years earlier, in 2005 dance performance “Love Tango” and opera “Madame Butterfly” were performed in Finland. This year a great chance is offered to watch two new operas. The fame of the book “Old Barny” by Andrus Kivirähk has crossed the borders already, thus it is a good time to stage the opera by Tauno Aints based on the book to the Finnish audience. The other performance “Fairy Queen” is an excellent example of synergy between drama, dance and music theatre, created by a well-known director Saša Pepeljajev.

You can enjoy these performances in the Finnish National Opera, in Helsinki:
12.11 Fairy Queen – in Estonian, songs in English, with English and Finnish subtitles.
13.11 Old Barny – in Estonian with English and Finnish subtitles
