Othello

Othello

Tragedy by William Shakespeare

Andres Noormets, director:

Once I heard a theatre ticket office employee tell a customer that Othello is a horrible story where a black man strangles a white woman. In this day and age, the urge is to do everything the other way around – no story, nothing horrible, no black man, no white woman, no one gets strangled. Just joy and intoxication – a life lived passionately, full of love, jealousy, good fortune and death. The rhythm of living people making their way to eternity and immortality.
