The Night Alive (Öörändurid)

The Night Alive (Öörändurid)

Drama by Conor McPherson

In a charmingly shabby house in a suburb of Dublin there are Tommy and Doc who slowly drift through their daily existence and figure out plans how to get rich and fast.

One night Tommy brings home a young woman who has just been assaulted on the street by her boyfriend. The mysterious woman, not keen on talking about her past, quickly manages to create a chain of events between the four men, a story filled with jealousy and hate, sense of caring and dreams and of course the familiar quirky Irish humour, that soothes the sharp reality.
The contemporary Irish playwright Conor McPherson is quite well known to the Estonian audience already (The Weir, This Lime Tree Bower). Vanemuine has recently played his one-man-play Rum and Vodka. The Night Alive is his most recent full-length play (2013) that premiered almost simultaneously in London and New York and immediately received the best new play of the year award form the New York critics.

Premiere 20.02.2016 at the Vanemuine Small Building
