The goal of the Vanemuine Theater is to be the upholder of Estonian culture as well as a trendsetter combining thus traditional and contemporary theater.

We are announcing an audition for Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra’s position

ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL CLARINET

(with the obligation to play es-clarinet and bass clarinet)

We offer:

  • full-time job with salary 1690 euros (gross) monthly ;

The audition takes place in two rounds.

To participate in the 1st round, we expect:

  • your CV together with an overview of your creative activities;
  • video recording of your performance of W. A. Mozart – Clarinet concerto in A major, KV622 1st movement

Candidates reaching the 2nd round are invited to an audition where we expect you to perform:

  • W. A. Mozart – Clarinet concerto in A major, KV622 1st movement
  • F. Poulenc – Clarinet Sonata 2nd and 3rd movement
  • orchestral excerpts, that will be sent directly to the candidates invited to the 2nd round.

VIOLA PLAYER

We offer:

  • full-time job with salary 1600 euros (gross) monthly ;

The audition takes place in two rounds.

To participate in the 1st round, we expect:

  • your CV together with an overview of your creative activities;
  • video recording of your performance of a freely chosen character piece or a concerto 1st movement.  

Candidates reaching the 2nd round are invited to an audition where we expect you to perform:

  • C. P. Stamitz viola concerto in D major 1st movement with cadenza or F. A. Hoffmeister viola concerto in D major 1st movement with candenza;
  • orchestral excerpts, that will be sent directly to the candidates invited to the 2nd round.

AUDITION for Vanemuine Opera Chorus / Estonia

TENOR POSITION

We expect from you:

  • to have graduated or are graduating from at least a secondary music school specializing in classical singing;
  • to have prior work experience as a soloist or choir singer;
  • English language skills and knowledge of Italian, Russian, German, and French at pronunciation level would be beneficial;
  • good sight-reading skills and knowledge of different musical styles;
  • good team-player with good stress tolerance.

We offer:

  • 56 days of paid holidays annually;
  • opportunity to work with a very diverse repertoire;
  • full-time job with salary 1600 euros (gross) monthly;
  • opportunity to apply for soloist roles at Vanemuine Theatre.

The audition will take place in two rounds.

To participate in the 1st round, we expect your CV together with an overview of your creative activities and a video recording of your performance of two diverse and different language works of free choice, one of which must be an opera aria.

2nd round participants are called in for an auditionthat takes place in three parts:

1) Works presented in the video round

2) Voice parts from the following works:

1. Puccini „Turandot“:

  • Act I / pp. 5-11 chorus, from pp. 8-11 also see the Guardians’ lines
  • Act III / pp. 286-290 Heerolds + chorus parts alternately
  • Finale / pp. 382-384

2. Bizet „Carmen“: pp. 32 („La cloche a sonne“)

3. Tchaikovsky’s “Yevgeny Onegin”: No.2 Chorus + solo lines / pp 22-26

4. Verdi „Requiem“: Libera me, Fugue / pp. 130-140

3) Sight-Reading test

The audition is followed by a test of vocal range and an interview.

In addition, please let us know the need for a concertmaster in round 2 in your e-mail. The singers that are accepted to the 2nd round will be sent an invitation via e-mail together with detailed instructions and sheet music. The second round will take place on the August 29th 2024 at Vanemuine Theatre, in Tartu, Estonia.

We are announcing an audition for Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra’s position

CONCERTMASTER – REPETITEUR

The main task of the job is to work as a concertmaster for opera chorus, including the performance of chorus parts for operas, operettas, musicals and concert repertoire and where necessary, orchestral parts. In addition, conducting rehearsals for productions and rehearsals with soloists, sending new singers to competitions and where necessary, musical preparation for children’s and boys’ choirs.

We expect from you:

  • you have completed or are in the process of completing higher education as a pianist or chamber musician;
  • have prior experience working with classical singers;
  • English language skills and knowledge of Italian, Russian, German and French at pronunciation level would be beneficial;
  • good team-player with good stress tolerance.

    • Mozart REQUIEM: Kyrie or Communio
    • Mahler: Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen
  • Work with a singer ( 1 male voice, 1 female voice)
  • Prima Vista

PRINCIPAL HORN

We offer:

The audition takes place in three rounds. To participate in the 1st round, we expect:

  • your CV together with an overview of your creative activities;
  • video recording of your performance of R. Strauss – Horn Concerto No. 1 (E-flat major, op 11) or W. A. Mozart – Horn Concerto No. 4 (E flat major KV 495) 1st movement

Candidates reaching the 2nd round are invited to an audition where we expect you to perform:

  • W. A. Mozart – Horn Concerto No. 4 E-flat mayor KV 495, complete

In the 3nd round candidates will have to perform:

  • R. Strauss – Horn Concerto No. 1 E-flat mayor, Op. 11, 1st movement
  • orchestral excerpts, that will be sent directly to the candidates invited to the 2nd round.

The 2nd and 3rd round will take place on  October 2nd 2024 in Vanemuine Theatre, Tartu, Estonia.
