The goal of the Vanemuine Theater is to be the upholder of Estonian culture as well as a trendsetter combining thus traditional and contemporary theater.

AUDITION for Vanemuine Opera Chorus / Estonia

TENOR POSITION

We expect from you:

  • to have graduated or are graduating with BA or MA specializing in classical singing;
  • to have prior work experience as a soloist or choir singer;
  • English language skills and knowledge of Italian, Russian, German, and French at pronunciation level would be beneficial;
  • good sight-reading skills and knowledge of different musical styles;
  • good team-player with good stress tolerance.

We offer:

  • 56 days of paid holidays annually;

  • full-time job with salary 1600 euros (gross) monthly;
  • opportunity to apply for soloist roles at Vanemuine Theatre.

The audition will take place in two rounds.

To participate in the 1st round, please send your CV together with an overview of your musical activities and a video recording with two songs in different styles and langugaes, one of which must be an opera aria.

2nd round participants are called in for an auditionthat takes place in three parts:

1) Works presented in the video round

2) Voice parts from the following works:

  • Puccini „Turandot“: (edition Riccordi):
    • Act I / pp. 5-11 chorus, from pp. 8-11 also see the Guardians’ lines
    • Act III / pp. 286-290 Heerolds + chorus parts alternately
    • Finale / pp. 382-384
  • Bizet „Carmen“: “: I Act No 4 „La cloche a sonne“
  • Verdi „Requiem“: Libera me, Fugue / pp. 130-140 (edition Peters)

3) Sight-Reading test

The audition is followed by a test of vocal range and an interview.

Please send the video together with your CV by September 30th 2024, to address konkurss@vanemuine.ee with the title „Chorister“. The singers that are accepted to the 2nd round will be sent an invitation via e-mail together with detailed instructions and sheet music. The pianist will be provided by us.

The second round will take place on the October 29th 2024 at Vanemuine Theatre, in Tartu, Estonia.

Starting time of employment as soon as possible.

We are announcing an audition for Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra’s position

FLUTE PLAYER (replacement)

We offer:

  • full-time job with salary 1600 euros (gross) monthly;
  • 56 days of paid holidays annually;
  • professional self-development prospects;
  • the opportunity to work with a very diverse repertoire.

The audition takes place in two rounds. To participate in the 1st round, we expect:

  • your CV together with an overview of your creative activities;
  • video recording of your performance of W. A. Mozart Flute Concerto in D Major or in G Major, 1st movement with cadenza.

Candidates reaching the 2nd round are invited to an audition where we expect you to perform:

  • W. A. Mozart Flute Concerto in D Major or in G Major, 1st and 2nd movement with cadenza;
  • orchestral excerpts, that will be sent directly to the candidates invited to the 2nd round.

The 2nd round takes place on October 30th 2024.

VIOLA PLAYER

We offer:

  • full-time job with salary 1600 euros (gross) monthly ;

  • professional self-development prospects.

The audition takes place in two rounds.

To participate in the 1st round, we expect:

  • your CV together with an overview of your creative activities;
  • video recording of your performance of a freely chosen character piece or a concerto 1st movement.

Candidates reaching the 2nd round are invited to an audition where we expect you to perform:

  • C. P. Stamitz viola concerto in D major 1st movement with  cadenza or F. A. Hoffmeister viola concerto in D major 1st movement with candenza
  • orchestral excerpts, that will be sent directly to the candidates invited to the 2nd round.
