Youth Work


Vanemuine conducts systematic youth work for the third season. The aim of youth work is to support the cultural interest of the young giving the opportunity to get better acquainted with the different theatre genres. Youth work gives the young broader choices, expands the world.

Theatre organizes excursions and theatre meetings for pupils, lectures and theatre lessons at the theatre as well as outside the theatre buildings.

Theatre attracts, fascinates and moves.

On school holidays one hour before and after the performance the children can fabricate together with the Theatre’s Yello Cats at the theatre lobby:

Contest "I SAW THEATRE!"

Also this season the theatre-theme contest “I SAW THEATRE!” for the children and young is held with the aim of inviting the young to think and discuss on theatre themes. Works can be written or drawn; works can be stories or verses, photos or paintings. It is essential that the work bears a theatre reflection. The works submitted to the theatre are designed into an exhibition in March 2010 at the lobby of the Vanemuine Grand Building, the authors and instructors of best works get theatre tickets and souvenirs for award, prettier works are used in the design of print materials for the children and the young. Works can be delivered or sent by February 1, 2010 to the address: Theatre Vanemuine, Vanemuise 6, Tartu, e-mail: teater[at]vanemuine.ee

Children’s Parties at the Vanemuine Grand Building

There is a playroom at the Grand Building where children can play while mothers-fathers are watching a performance. There is a small hand puppet theatre screen together with hand puppets, a table and drawing supplies, costumes for dressing up, books and toys. During the performance a theatre’s employee will be looking after the children. You can also organize a great theatretheme birthday party at the playroom offering friends cake during the interval or inviting friends to play theatre games at the playroom. We also offer the opportunity to take a fascinating trip to the theatre’s mysterious backstage or to organize a theatre-theme competition game.

The use of the playroom 1 hour before the beginning of the performance and during the interval to celebrate birthday or other occasion costs 300 kroons, the theatre ticket price is added The use of the playroom for 3 hours together with a theatre-theme activity manager (1 hour) costs 1000 kroons.
