Aki and Liisa whose parents are divorced live with their father who is a member of the armed forces. Father Ripa tries to build a new family with Jutta. Jutta on the other hand tries to break free of the hold of a domineering mother. The children long for a normal family in which they would have both a father and a mother. The plot is set in the period of a couple of dozen years in 20th and 21st century Finland. This is a story about a family which is brought to the audience through the eyes of the children Aki and Liisa in the course of their growing up.

Reko Lundan (1969-2006) belongs to the younger generation of Finnish drama writers. He studied both acting and directing. The production is based on two autobiographical plays and a novel written about the same theme.
