![]() The premiere took place at Opera Comique in Paris in 1884. It was an instant success and it remained in the repertoire of Opera Comique until 1959. Massenet’s Manon is one of the most popular French operas of all times. It talks about the tragic love affair of Manon Lescaut and Le Chevalier des Grieux. It is a marvellous example of the music and culture of the Paris belle époque.
