ATLAN KARP Atlan Karp started his studies in 1997 in the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School and continued in the Estonian Academy of Music and the Sibelius Academy under Jorma Hynninen and Pekka Kähkönen. In 2003 he studied in the Maria Theatre in St. Petersburg. He has participated in the master courses by G. Janowitz, T. Krause, L. Gergijeva, D. Hvorostovsky, J. Obrastsova, A. Amaretto and H. Hagegård. In 2000 he won first prize in the Tiit Kuusik Song Contest. His roles include: Lindorf/Coppelius/Dr Miracle/Dappertutto (Offenbach`s The Tales of Hoffmann, Vanemuine), Tobia Mill (Rossini`s The Bill of Marriage, Vanemuine), Narrator and The Second Warrior (Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Vanemuine), Father (Lyytikäinen’s To Helsinki, Helsinki Aleksander’s Theatre), The Man (Lyytikäinen/Almila/Lintinen’s Little While, Kanneltalo), Seducer (Pohjola’s Cupboard, Kanneltalo), Water Goblin (Dvorak’s Russalka, Helsinki Aleksander’s Theatre), Don Alfonso (Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Savonlinna Music Academy), Onegin (Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Sibelius Academy), Roderick (Debussy’s La Chute de la Maison d’Usher, Spinto Moving Opera House/Kiasma Theatre), Notary (Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi Vantaa Opera), Masetto (Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Sibelius Academy), Hangman (Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea, Kaapelitehdas, Helsinki), Andres (Marguste’s Andres’s Four Monologues, Estonian Music Days). Atlan Karp has participated in the premieres of Estonian modern music: Märt-Matis Lill’s Ryokan's Story, Sad Joy; Kristjan Kõrver’s The Songs of Land and Sea. |
