"The Estonian Theatre Statistics 2010" compiled by the Estonian Theatre Agency about 29 performance institutions stated that the most visited production of 2010 in Estonia was Andrew Lloyd Webber's "EVITA". The total number of visitors was 22 313.
"EVITA" premiered on the 27th of November in 2009 in Tallinn at the Nokia Concerthall and on the 23rd of January at Vanemuine Grand Building. The Vanemuine production "EVITA" was directed by Georg Malvius (Sweden), musical director and conductor Tarmo Leinatamm, designer Ellen Cairns (Scotland), lighting designer Palle Palmé (Sweden) and choreographer Igor Barberic (Croatia). The role of Evita was played by Maarja-Liis Ilus.
"We are glad to see that the hit musical "EVITA" has conquered the hearts of Estonians already twice - first with the 2002 Vanemuine production and now again in 2010", said the general manager of the theatre Paavo Nõgene.
Altogether four Vanemuine productions managed to settle in the TOP 6 of the most visited productions. Furthermore, Vanemuine was the most visited theatre in Estonia in 2010 - the annual number of visitors was 168 821. Including the Vanemuine concerts and events addressed to children and the youth, the total number of visitors reached 187 361.
